FFP3 Masks
Designed for demanding respiratory protection, our FFP3 masks (EN 149:2001 + A1:2009) deliver a filtration efficiency of ≥ 99% and a reliable fit in high-risk environments — from fine dust to biological agents.
They combine performance and comfort for everyday use. Protect your team with proven, professional-grade protection.
Why Choose an FFP3 Mask?
An FFP3 mask offers the highest filtration level defined by EN 149:2001 + A1:2009, blocking at least 99% of fine particles.
As Category III PPE, it is essential for protecting the respiratory tract in hazardous settings: asbestos removal, chemical industries, laboratories, or worksites exposed to mineral dust and airborne pathogens. In plain terms, when safety and health are non-negotiable, the FFP3 standard sets the benchmark.
That’s what makes it the top tier of respiratory protection.
How to Choose Your FFP3 Mask
Selecting the right FFP3 respirator starts with your environment and usage. Consider these core criteria:
-
Shape: duckbill, foldable, or cup-style — balancing adaptability and comfort.
-
Valve: with valve for easier exhalation during long wear; without valve to prevent outward transmission in medical settings.
-
R or NR: “NR” = single use; “R” = reusable, as defined by the EN 149 standard.
-
Sizes (S / M / L): proper sizing reduces the risk of inward leakage.
-
Breathability (ΔP): the lower the ΔP, the greater the comfort for extended wear.
-
Type IIR: ideal in healthcare or technical fields where fluid resistance is required.
In short, fit and context determine the right choice.
With or Without a Valve?
When selecting an FFP3 mask, valve design plays a decisive role — shaping both comfort and collective protection.
-
Without a valve: protects the wearer and those nearby, but may trap heat and humidity over time.
-
With a valve: enhances comfort and limits condensation, though it doesn’t filter exhaled air.
-
Best use: no valve for medical contexts; valve models for construction or industry.
Each option has its purpose — the key is matching it to your risk profile.
R vs NR (Reusability)
The EN 149 standard defines two categories: FFP3 NR for single-use (typically disposable, often supplied in mask lots) and FFP3 R for reusable masks under controlled conditions. “R” certification confirms that a mask has passed durability testing, though real-world reuse depends on the manufacturer’s instructions and exposure level.
Simply put, check the label — it tells you everything.
Choosing the Right Size
An FFP3 mask must form a perfect seal to prevent internal leakage. That’s why our models are available in several sizes — S, M and L — to fit every face shape.
A precise fit enhances filtration efficiency and all-day comfort. For detailed guidance, see our FAQ on fit testing and adjustment.
Compliance & Performance
All our FFP3 NR D masks meet the strict requirements of EN 149:2001 + A1:2009, ensuring a filtration rate of ≥ 99% for fine particles.
They are double-certified: Medical Device Class I (EN 14683:2019) and Category III PPE (EU Regulation 2016/425). Each undergoes rigorous testing — NaCl and oil penetration, total inward leakage, breathing resistance, and mechanical robustness.
These validations confirm that every Kolmi® Oxygen model — as well as the SafeMask Fit+Pro range, available with or without a valve and likewise certified FFP3 NR — delivers regulatory safety, superior breathing comfort, and high-end performance for the most demanding work environments. That’s verified protection you can rely on.
Manufacturing & CSR
Produced in France at our Angers facilities, Kolmi® Oxygen FFP3 masks embody two priorities: industrial sovereignty and environmental responsibility.
Through the Mass Balance process, up to 70% recycled materials are integrated — with no compromise on quality or safety. This innovation reflects our wider CSR approach: reducing carbon footprint, reshoring production, and ensuring supply continuity even under strain.
It’s a sustainable commitment, built to last. Discover our sustainable and responsible approach today.
Applications by Profession & Environment
The Kolmi® Oxygen FFP3 line covers a broad spectrum of professional uses. Its high filtration and ergonomic design make it ideal for the most demanding settings:
-
Asbestos removal / Construction: defense against asbestos fibers and mineral dust (prefer non-valved masks, fitted sizing).
-
Pharmaceutical / Laboratories: protection against biological agents and contamination risks (Type IIR version recommended).
-
Chemical industry: barrier against fine dust and oil mists (R / NR choice depending on exposure).
-
Maintenance, sanding, welding, painting: durable comfort with soft straps and optimized ΔP breathability.
-
Waste management: limits exposure to hazardous particles and infectious aerosols.
A mask for every risk — safety, guaranteed.
